About Irish Steve

It's not just eavestrough, it's an art form

Steve Jackson has spent most of his life in construction, the last 27 years in eavestroughs. His father built homes in Ireland, where Steve ran his own eavestrough and roofing company before moving to Canada in 2015. Since then he has completed thousands of jobs in Edmonton and the surrounding area, with his son-in-law Lee at his side. Every eavestrough is sloped with a level, every soffit mitered where the wall changes shape, and Steve personally guarantees the result.

  • I had our eaves replaced in April 2023 by Steve and Lee, we had originally talked and had a quote in late fall of 2022. I found Steve to be very helpful, detailed and honest. When the frost was out of the ground Steve and Lee came by and performed all the work necessary taking our old eaves away when done. I can't say enough how professional, courteous and nice they both were. I really feel lucky to have met Steve and Lee in person, they are both true craftsman and true gentlemen and the I absolutely love how our house looks now, no more cleaning out the gutters twice a year for me :-)

  • In 2018, my wife and I moved into a large bungalow in Riverbend. We noted some eavestrough issues during inspection, but the extent of the problems really became evident during spring melt. In addition to leaks, the overhang of the tile roof caused water to spill beyond some sections of the gutters. We obtained several bids and chose to work with Stephen. His was not the lowest price, but we appreciated his consultative approach when considering options for the replacement. Our project had some technical challenges, including complex joint angles due to a bow window and other house features and 70+ foot continuous runs. We chose to upgrade to a 6″ commercial-grade steel eavestrough in combination with the T-Rex continuous hanger and leaf guard system. This has proven to be a wise decision and the system has performed flawlessly, even under the heaviest summer rains. Stephen’s expertise with tile roofs also came in handy on our project. While working on the eavestrough replacement, he identified a couple of cracked tiles and replaced them for us at no extra cost, and also made some repairs to the roof valleys. When my Mom needed to replace the eavestrough on her garage, I immediately introduced her to Stephen to get the work done. She is now another happy customer! I would not hesitate to recommend Stephen to friends and family.

  • Steve and Lee replaced our eavestroughs, soffits and fascia. Not an easy job on a house that’s settled with lines that aren’t straight anymore. Very precise, immaculate work. All assembled with matching screws. No staples. The job was completed in a timely manner, keeping to the estimate and left very tidy.

  • Installed a much needed Drip Edge for my Shingles due to several leaks on the Eavestroughs. Steve is very honest. Other Companies suggested that I needed to replace the Eavestroughs in addition to installing a Drip Edge. Steve stated that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my Eaves and I only needed the new Drip Edge to resolve the leakage. Highly recommend Irish Steve’s Eavestroughing.

  • We moved into a new house in Devon and we needed Eavestroughs the old ones were the original 4inch. We called a few companies but were unable to find a company that would drive to Devon, being 20 mins from Edmonton. Steve and Lee were able to meet me one evening after I had finished work. I wanted to be there as we have trusted contractors in the past only to be faced with issues later on. Steve is a real good guy, a straight shooter so to speak, like me he’s involved with the Knights of Columbus through the catholic church. Steve’s attention to detail at 8pm in the evening was amazing. The job was completed beyond my comprehension. I needed the water taken from the back of the house to the front. Steve explained to me over the phone the best way to solve my issue. I did not quite understand what he meant until the job was complete. I now have the best Eavestroughs on the street and thanks to Steve and crew I won’t be changing these in my lifetime. I got great value for my dollar, and I believe I chose the perfect outfit. I wish this Irish guy all the best in his future endeavours

  • Steve was not the lowest cost quote I received, but during the consultation he was very knowledgeable and pointed out points of concern the other contractors did not mention. During install he did not disappoint, meeting all my requests; re-sloped the garage, installed custom rain barrel diverter, sealed open stucco, and provided a drip edge where needed at no cost. He is knowledgeable, passionate and a true craftsman. I wish I had more eaves to do

  • Steve and Lee came out to our home and gave an estimate for replacement on the eavestroughs. Steve took the time to explain the issues and recommended solutions and we followed his advice. They were very professional in their installation work and did an amazing job that we no longer have waterfalls from our eavestroughs any longer!!! Kudos to Steve and Lee for a job well done!!!!

A traditional eavestrough is held by spaced hangers or spikes: between two of them, the trough is a weak spot that bends under snow and ice. To get the same strength you would have to add hundreds of hangers. The Alu-Rex DoublePro or T-Rex continuous hanger supports the eavestrough along its entire length, with no weak spots, and closes the top of the trough while letting the water in.

The DoublePro. Its two layers of perforated aluminum have offset holes that act as a filter: rainwater drains freely while pine needles and leaves stay out. It is the only system covered by a lifetime warranty on materials, strength and clogging, even in pine areas.

We supply and install 5″, 6″ and 7″ seamless eavestroughs, with 8″ coming soon. Larger roofs and commercial buildings can get 6″ commercial-grade steel. Every run is sloped with a level so no water sits in the trough.
